He'll probably sell the CHICAGO CUBS this year or next, and he hasn't said what he'll do with the only radio station he's buying, Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO, but SAM ZELL says that one thing he won't sell among the TRIBUNE CO. assets is the LOS ANGELES TIMES.
"I said it to (LOS ANGELES billionaire developer) ELI BROAD," ZELL told a conference at the BEVERLY HILTON hotel, referring to the paper not being for sale. "I said it to DAVID GEFFEN, and I'm saying it to you. Now, if you have a price," he jokingly added, "we can talk."
ZELL, responding to a question about whether he will sell the CUBS to DALLAS MAVERICKS and HDNET owner MARK CUBAN, who has been publicly talking about his desire to own the team, said, "I have no idea who is going to end up with the CUBS, but it ain't gonna be me."
