DUQUESNE UNIVERSITY noncommercial WDUQ/PITTSBURGH has been ordered by the school to refuse underwriting from PLANNED PARENTHOOD. The station aired PLANNED PARENTHOOD underwriting spots for two days last week before the Catholic school told the station to pull the spots WEDNESDAY, noting PLANNED PARENTHOOD's support of abortion. PLANNED PARENTHOOD is asking supporters to contact the station and school president to demand a reversal.
PLANNED PARENTHOOD OF WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA Pres./CEO KIMBERLEE EVERT told the PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW, "If they're not going to accept money from organizations that don't adhere to (Roman) Catholic doctrine, how far are they going to take this? Are they going to reject donations from hospitals that provide birth control? They have to be consistent. It can't be targeted against just one organization."
