Some more details have emerged about ALBANY Talk veteran PAUL VANDENBURGH's previously-reported purchase of Sports WTMM-A/ALBANY, NY from REGENT, as the ALBANY TIMES-UNION reports that the price for the deal is $850,000. VANDENBURGH has formed CAPITAL BROADCASTING INC. to buy the station, and will flip the calls to WCBI (TALK 1300).
The lineup will include VANDENBURGH in mornings and several of VANDENBURGH's fellow former crosstown PAMAL Talk WROW-A hosts, including former TIMES UNION managing editor DAN LYNCH in afternoons and shows for lawyers SALVATORE FERLAZZO and JAY GIRVIN, SMITH BARNEY broker LARRY KING, and WACHOVIA SECURITIES' SANFORD FAMILY. The station will also clear JONES RADO NETWORKS' NEAL BOORTZ.
REGENT moved WTMM's Sports format to 104.5 FM last DECEMBER and tried a talk-for-women format from JANUARY through AUGUST, when it flipped back to a simulcast of the Sports format. VANDENBURGH was a host on the station in its earlier Talk incarnation as WQBK-A before moving to WROW.
