FCC Won't Look At Ownership Diversity In Open Meeting Today
November 27, 2007 at 11:32 AM (PT)
The FCC open meeting TODAY (11/27) has been delayed and one media item has been deleted from the agenda -- the consideration of proposals to increase ownership diversity in the media.
The meeting was pushed back from 8:30a ET to 11a ET but then was delayed indefinitely due to closed-door wrangling over Chairman KEVIN MARTIN's proposals on cable TV regulation. Explaining the delay, MARTIN told reporters that he is withdrawing his cable proposals as presently constituted and he is attempting to get support from other commissioners for an alternative proposal to force cable companies to provide data to the FCC about their market share.
