A JP MORGAN Report on Internet Radio found that unique visitors to Internet radio dipped 1.5% in SEPTEMBER, 2007 from the prior month’s levels. Total traffic declined at both pure Net radio sites and terrestrial radio sites. The size of the Net radio audience has leveled off in the 60-62 million for the past 18 months.
Internet radio traffic was down almost 1% from last year’s levels, primarily at the expense of Net radio. It suffered an 11% year-to-year decline in pure plays, compared to an 18% year-to-year growth for terrestrial operators, a trend that has been fairly steady for the last six months. One conclusion of the report is that while the audience for Net radio isn't growing much, the users are turning their attention more towards terrestrial radio web sites. Their share of total traffic has grown from 35% to 41%.
