Report: LimeWire In A Third Of All Computers

Good news and bad news on the digital piracy front: A data report jointly released by DIGITAL MUSIC NEWS and BIGCHAMPAGNE found that over one-third of all PCs worldwide now have LIMEWIRE installed, reports TMC.NET. LIMEWIRE, currently being sued by the RIAA for allegedly facilitating illegal downloading, has become the leading P2P application.
Specifically, the report revealed that, for the 3Q 2007, LIMEWIRE was found installed on 36.4% of all PCs -- approximately 1.66 million desktops worldwide. The good news: Use of LIMEWIRE has plateaued over the last several months. Its market penetration level as 34.1% during the same period last year, a growth of just 2.3%.
