The album sales decline in 2007 wasn't as bad in CANADA as it was in the U.S. According to NIELSEN SOUNDSCAN, overall album sales (including albums and track equivalent album sales) declined 6.9% compared to 2006, which isn't as steep as the 9.5% drop in AMERICA.Total album sales declined 9.5%, compared to a 14% drop in the U.S.
The reason for the somewhat better news was a more dramatic increase in digital album sales. Canadian digital album sales nearly doubled (93%), while American digital album sales rose 53%.
