CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40/Rhythmic WKTU/NEW YORK has hired PAUL "CUBBY" BRYANT as its new morning host. The new 'KTU Morning Show debuts MONDAY, JANUARY 14th, and will air weekdays from 6-10a. CUBBY will be joined by CINDY VERO with news, traffic and entertainment reports. The announcement was made today by SVP/Programming TOM POLEMAN and WKTU PD ROB MILLER.
POLEMAN stated, "CUBBY is a well-established and loved N.Y. personality. He's perfect for this. He knows how to connect with listeners, while keeping the music going. His extensive radio experience doing afternoons at Z100, paired with his experience in mornings with WHOOPI, makes him the ideal choice."
MILLER added, "I've been a fan of CUBBY's for years. His unique, fun-loving personality and incredible ability to bond with his audience has always made him a listener favorite. I'm thrilled to give CUBBY the opportunity to once again work his magic on his own show ... he's going to shine in mornings at KTU!"
BRYANT said, "Working with WHOOPI for the last year-and-a-half has been amazing. The folks at PREMIERE have been great to me and I am sure that 'Wake up with WHOOPI'will continue to do fantastic things in 2008. CINDY and I have been friends for a long time ,and I’m so excited that we’ll finally get to realize our dream by doing a morning show on KTU together. I am beyond excited to work closely with ROB WILLIAMS (N.Y. Market Manager), ROB MILLER and, of course, TOM POLEMAN, who I have worked with since 1991."
Regarding a new co-host for WHOOPI, a PREMIERE representative told ALL ACCESS, "We're exploring options for a potential new co-host, and look forward to continuing to syndicate 'Wake Up With WHOOPI'."
