January 8, 2008 at 3:04 PM (PT)
The release of the FALL 2007 ratings have officially begun. With the delay of the official PPM rollout, New York is back using the diary methodology. After falling out of the top spot in the Summer book, CLEAR CHANNEL AC WLTW (LITE-FM) soared back to #1 position in the FALL BOOK, moving 4.3-5.5. This placed WLTW almost a full share ahead of SBS Tropical WSKQ – who is up a half share to a 4.6. Summer champ, CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40/Mainstream WHTZ (Z100) slid to third, moving 5.1-4.3 – tied with EMMIS Urban AC WRKS (4.4-4.3). Rounding out the top five is WRKS rival, INNER CITY Urban AC WBLS, who grew 3.7-4.1.
Four stations tied for sixth place. CBS News WINS-A (3.9-3.7) and EMMIS Top 40/Rhythmic WQHT (3.7-3.7) were in a deadlock with CBS Classic Hits WCBS-F – who after leaping 2.0-3.7 in their first book, remained steady in the fall. Also in that group is SBS Spanish Contemporary WPAT (3.5-3.7). WQHT saw their lead over CLEAR CHANNEL Urban rival WWPR grow, as the latter was off 3.4-3.3. WWPR was tied with CITADEL Talk WABC-A, who was up 3.1-3.3. However, EMMIS Smooth Jazz WQCD slipped 3.3-2.7.
Of the three re-formatted CBS FM stations in the BIG APPLE, WCBS-F and AC WWFS (2.5-2.7) are both up dramatically to their older formats, while Alternative WXRK dipped 1.7-1.5.
Nassau-Suffolk: Long ‘Walk’ On The Island; CBS-FM Climbs To Third
CLEAR CHANNEL posts a win on Long Island as well as AC WALK soars 5.2-6.2 – to post a convincing win in Nassau-Suffolk. This places WALK almost two full shares ahead of COX Top 40/Mainstream WBLI, which ranked second with a 4.3. WCBS-F jumped to third place, moving 3.9-4.0. COX Rock WBAB was still a solid fourth with a 3.8, while WHTZ (5.2-3.7) and CBS Sports WFAN-A (3.9-3.7) tied for fifth place. WLTW also posted a nice spike on LONG ISLAND, surging 2.3-3.5.
