ESPN Sports WEPN-A (1050 ESPN)/NEW YORK, having recently struck a deal to LMA NASSAU's WCHR-A/FLEMINGTON, NJ to improve the station's coverage to the west, strikes again, this time at the eastern fringe of the station's covereage area with an LMA to take over programming of THE MOREY ORGANIZATION's WLIR/HAMPTON BAYS, NY, which has been simulcasting sister Top 40/Rhythmic WDRE (PARTY 105.3) since dropping Alternative at the beginning of JANUARY. The deal is for WLIR, which reaches the eastern SUFFOLK COUNTY area (the HAMPTONS/RIVERHEAD market) and coastal CONNECTICUT, to carry 1050 ESPN's programming on a full-time basis starting on MONDAY (1/21).
"This agreement allows 1050 ESPN to follow our strong FALL ratings book with continued growth by providing our extensive sports programming to an even wider audience," said 1050 ESPN Pres./GM TIM MCCARTHY. "This is part of our ongoing commitment to our listeners and advertisers, and a creative way to engage sports fans on LONG ISLAND and coastal CONNECTICUT."
"We are thrilled with this partnership," added TMO President JOHN CARACCIOLO. "As a huge ESPN fan myself, I’m excited that we are able to bring this all-sports Talk radio station to even more LONG ISLAND listeners."
