GOOD KARMA BROADCASTING turns rumors to reality and buys Religion WRRD-A (540 THE WORD)/MILWAUKEE from SALEM for an undisclosed price. The deal will allow GOOD KARMA to move its "MILWAUKEE'S ESPN RADIO" Sports format from its present split-frequency arrangement on the company's daytimer WAUK-A and, at night, on MILWAUKEE RADIO ALLIANCE Talk WMCS-A.
The format will begin a temporary simulcast on WRRD's 540 AM frequency and on the 1510 days/1290 nights arrangement until 1510 is eventually split off into a separate format. The single frequency operation will allow afternoon host STEVE TRUE to maintain the same schedule -- 2-6p CT -- year-round, and will permit the station to carry ESPN RADIO's MIKE GREENBERG and MIKE GOLIC morning show in ite entirety.
"540 ESPN will provide our listeners with a consistent 24-hour signal," said PD BILL JOHNSON. "We are very excited, not only for our listeners, but for our advertisers, broadcast partners, and our staff."
"A consistent 24-hour station with the on-air quality of the 540 signal is only possible because of the loyalty that our advertisers, listeners, and other partners have shown us during our time in MILWAUKEE," said GOOD KARMA Pres./CEO CRAIG KARMAZIN. "I want to thank those who have been a part of our growth and invite everyone in Southeastern WISCONSIN to program the first preset on their car radio to 540 ESPN."
