Jay Kernis To Exit NPR

NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO SVP/Programming JAY KERNIS is exiting the network effective FEBRUARY 1st. KERNIS plans to return to television with a company to be announced shortly.
KERNIS returned to NPR in MAY, 2001 after 14 years in television at CBS NEWS; he originally worked for NPR in 1974-87. Among the shows KERNIS helped develop at NPR are "MORNING EDITION" and "WEEKEND EDITION," "DAY TO DAY," "NEWS AND NOTES," "TELL ME MORE" and "THE BRYANT PARK PROJECT."
COO MITCH PRAVER will assume KERNIS' duties while the network searches for a new senior-level programming executive.
