COLUMBIA NASHVILLE's duo MONTGOMERY GENTRY, along with several other artists, helped raise $100,000 for the T.J. MARTELL FOUNDATION during LAST NIGHT's 14th Annual Country in the Rockies in STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO.
M-G's TROY GENTRY agreed to shave off his recently grown beard, on the spot, for $20,000. Partner EDDIE MONTGOMERY also donated three of his trademark black hats, which raised several thousand dollars.
CURB ASYLUM's HANK WILLIAMS, JR. donated a GIBSON guitar embossed with the MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL which netted $2,100, while KOCH/BLUE HAT legend CHARLIE DANIELS raised $2,000 with one of his signature fiddles.
GENTRY commented, "I enjoyed the beard through the winter, especially here in the snow, but I was willing to part with it for the right price to help the T.J. MARTELL FOUNDATION.”
The T.J. MARTELL FOUNDATION supports innovative research for leukemia, cancer and AIDS. In NASHVILLE, the foundation supports cancer research at the FRANCES WILLIAMS PRESTON LABS at the VANDERBILT-INGRAM CANCER CENTER.
