What ALL ACCESS was hearing about TONY BRUNO's absence from SPORTING NEWS RADIO was true, as the network announces that the longtime sports talker has exited his mid-morning slot at the network. BRUNO's last show was JANUARY 18 and the network says in a press release that he will remain on staff for the next two months working with management on other initiatives. BOB BERGER and BOB STELTON will fill in this week and ARNIE SPANIER the next as the network decides on BRUNO's successor.
"We are grateful for his numerous contributions to the development of our network over the last three years. Unfortunately, our strategic objectives and TONY's personal interests are not in alignment at this time, and we have each agreed to move in a new direction," said SNR Pres. CLANCY WOODS.
The release also quotes BRUNO as saying, "I want to thank all of those at SPORTING NEWS RADIO for allowing me to remain in LOS ANGELES, and the listeners, sponsors, and affiliates for supporting the TONY BRUNO SHOW for the last three years. There is no doubt that we provided a sports talk radio program that no one else in this format came close to delivering or duplicating."
