Former NBC UNIVERSAL boss BOB WRIGHT has hooked up with private-equity veteran THOMAS H. LEE to hunt for deals in the media sector, reports THE NEW YORK POST. WRIGHT, who plans to leave the board of NBC parent company GENERAL ELECTRIC at the company's next annual meeting, said yesterday that he is joining LEE EQUITY PARTNERS as a senior adviser.
WRIGHT's move to LEE EQUITY prompted speculation YESTERDAY that the firm was gearing up to buy NBC UNIVERSAL if GE decides to sell the network after this year's SUMMER OLYMPICS.
"I am grateful for the opportunities that GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY has afforded me and am proud of my years of service and leadership there," WRIGHT said. "I look forward to achieving equally great things with TOM LEE and his talented group of partners at LEE EQUITY."
