Steiner Exits WYPR/Baltimore
February 4, 2008 at 5:26 AM (PT)
Noncommercial WYPR/BALTIMORE midday talk host MARK STEINER exits the station, and the BALTIMORE SUN quotes STEINER as calling the station's claim that he was dismissed for poor ratings "baloney."
STEINER told the SUN that he was fired for differences with WYPR Pres. ANTHONY A. BRANDON, who he said "has been trying to diminish my power at the station and move me off the air for six years. It has been his agenda. It has been one thing after another, and I've always tried to take the high road and never say anything about it publicly."
STEINER is being replaced by a new local show "STATEWIDE," with temporary hosts for now until the station decides on a permanent host.
