CRTC Turns Thumbs Down On Two FM Apps
February 6, 2008 at 4:40 PM (PT)
The CRTC rejects BAYSHORE BROADCASTING CORP.'s application to add an FM transmitter to fill in problem areas for its Oldies CFOS-A/OWEN SOUND, ON. BAYSHORE had applied for a 5,450-watt transmitter at 96.1 FN, but the Commission said that the proposed FM coverage would exceed the station's AM daytime contour and would give BAYSHORE three FMs in the market.
The agency also rejected SIDNEY E. DOLSON's application for a new low-power Type B FM with a Native format on 88.5 FM at MUNCEY, ON (southwest of LONDON). DOLSON's application was deemed too vague on staffing and DOLSON was ruled ineligible to hold a Type B Native license since he is not a non-profit organization with board membership by the native community being served.
