Sixth Station Included In Cox Athens Deal

The paperwork filed with the FCC for COX RADIO's previously announced purchase of five stations in the ATHENS, GA market from PAUL STONE's SOUTHERN BROADCASTING and NEW BROADCAST INVESTMENT PROPERTIES reveals that a sixth station has been included in the deal, Country WXKT (K-100 FM). The station, which holds a CP to move from WASHINGTON, GA into ATHENS with new city of license WATKINSVILLE, was not mentioned in the original press release announcing the $60 million deal, which also includes Country WNGC, AC WGMG (MAGIC 102), AAA WPUP (BULL DOG 103.7), Talk WGAU-A and Sports WRFC-A (960 THE REF).
In other deals filed with the FCC, NEW LIFE EVANGELISTIC CENTER, INC. is selling Religion KTCN/EUREKA SPRINGS, AR to LARRY and JANELL HESTAND's NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA BROADCAST NETWORK, INC. for $302,000 cash. The buyer owns AC KGLC and Southern Gospel KVIS-A/MIAMI, OK and Country KGVE/GROVE, OK.
SMITH AND FITZGERALD, PARTNERSHIP is transferring FM translator W282BK/WYALUSING, PA to GEOS COMMUNICATIONS for no consideration; the transferor's partners, KEVIN M. FITZGERALD and BENJAMIN P. SMITH, remain owners, adding BETTY S. CURTIN as a partner.
