A group that has been urging advertisers to drop their ads from MICHAEL SAVAGE's syndicated show claims that it has convinced five more advertisers tp pull their ads.
The group, "HATE HURTS AMERICA COMMUNITY AND INTERFAITH COALITION," formed by the COUNCIL ON AMERICAN-ISLAMIC RELATIONS, says in a press release that ITT TECHNICAL INSTITUTE, CHATTEM, INC. (GOLD BOND/SELSUN BLUE/ICY HOT), UNION BANK OF CALIFORNIA, INTUIT, and GEICO were convinced to pull their ads after contact from visitors to the group's NOSAVAGE.ORG website.
CAIR has targeted SAVAGE for several years for his criticism of some Muslim groups' alleged ties to terrorism, and SAVAGE has sued CAIR for copyright infringement in its use of clips from his show, a suit that CAIR has filed a motion to have dismissed. A previous list of advertisers said by CAIR to be pulling ads from SAVAGE's show in DECEMBER included some businesses that do not advertise on any talk radio shows.
