COWLES PUBLISHING's daily SPOKANE SPOKESMAN-REVIEW reaches an agreement with MAPLETON COMMUNICATIONS' RADIOSPOKANE cluster to provide news reports for MAPLETON's stations starting in early SPRING. The exclusive deal is for two years.
The paper will produce at least four daily newscasts for mornings, midday, and afternoon drive, a weekend talk show, and a "Week in Review" show. The news reports will be produced under the direction of the paper's Editor STEVEN A. SMITH at the SPOKESMAN-REVIEW newsroom, with the talk shows emanating from the RADIOSPOKANE studios. Local radio news veterans DAN MITCHINSON and DICK HAUGEN are on board with the paper as part of the new radio news team.
"We are delighted that our news reports will now be powered by THE SPOKESMAN-REVIEW, which gives us the largest news-gathering force in the Inland Northwest," said MAPLETON CEO ADAM NATHANSON. "It means our listeners will have a reliable and respected local news report and updates throughout the day on our radio stations to better serve the community."
"We’re excited to be able to offer our readers still more ways of accessing our reports," said COWLES President W. STACEY COWLES.
"MAPLETON COMMUNICATIONS has a proven track record and we are thrilled to be partnering with the newly acquired RADIOSPOKANE radio stations," added COWLES Dir. of Sales and Marketing SHAUN L. O'HIGGINS. "The power of RADIOSPOKANE adds an important dimension to our current print, online and mobile platforms."
