The previously announced deal that would sell R & R RADIO CORPORATION Oldies KDES-F/PALM SPRINGS, CA to LIBERMAN BROADCASTING's LBI RADIO LICENSE LLC for $10.5 million and move the station west into the RIVERSIDE-SAN BERNARDINO market as a Spanish format station will result in a formatic game of musical chairs in the PALM SPRINGS market.
The DESERT SUN reports that R & R will keep the KDES format and move it to its recently acquired Easy Listening KWXY-F/PALM SPRINGS, and will move the longtime KWXY format to the AM dial at 1340 AM, replacing the liberal talk format at KPTR-A (PROGRESSIVE TALK AM 1340).
The paper adds that GOLD COAST BROADCASTING, owner of Top 40-Rhythmic KCAQ (Q-104.7)/OXNARD, has been running print ads in the PALM SPRINGS market warning listeners that an FM station is leaving the market and tells listeners to file comments with the FCC.
