Mediabase Sets New Reporting Guidelines; Expands Activator Panel
February 19, 2008 at 1:52 PM (PT)
MEDIABASE announced today that it has set new Average Quarter Hour (AQH) guidelines for becoming reporters to their charts. In addition, MEDIABASE will be expanding its ACTIVATOR platform for reporters in markets 151-300.
MEDIABASE President RICH MEYER commented, "As markets become more competitive and fragmented, we’ve seen a noticeable shift in audience shares. MEDIABASE has always had a policy of being inclusive rather than exclusive. We have adjusted our AQH minimums for reporting status so they are reasonable and attainable."
Mediabase has always had a policy of being inclusive rather than exclusive. We have adjusted our AQH minimums for reporting status so they are reasonable and attainable.
Stations will continue to be required to have one full book in format before becoming a reporter. Stations must not fall below the AQH minimum for more than one book to remain reporters.
MEDIABASE is also reviewing policies regarding current percentage and format saturation that will be announced in the coming weeks.
In addition to the AQH requirement, MEDIABASE has announced that they will be expanding their ACTIVATOR panels. ACTIVATOR reporters are stations in ARBITRON rated markets 151-300 that report weekly airplay. Stations must meet an AQH minimum and current percentage requirement. MEYER added, "MEDIABASE recognizes the importance of stations in all rated markets and is very pleased to be expanding this platform in 2008. There are some enormously successful small market stations and we want the entire industry to be able to view this data on a weekly basis."
Formats affected by this announcement include Top 40, Rhythmic, Urban, Urban AC, AC, Hot AC, Rock, Active Rock, Alternative, and Triple A. Country reporter revisions will continue to be handled by LON HELTON at Country Aircheck. Smooth AC, Christian AC, Latin, and Canadian formats will continue to be monitored only.
Stations interested in joining either the PUBLISHED or ACTIVATOR panels should send an e-mail with their call letters, market, a seven day most played list, and contact information to STU HEIDEMANN at email@example.com. An announcement of the revised panels will be made in early SPRING.
