Scottish businessmen GORDON BEATTIE and JOHN QUINN tell the SCOTSMAN that they will bid on the Alternative XFM stations in GLASGOW, MANCHESTER, and SOUTH WALES being sold by GCAP MEDIA. GCAP announced recently that it would sell the stations or, if a buyer is not found by MARCH 28th, will turn the stations' licenses in to OFCOM and shut them down.
BEATTIE told the paper that the stations represent "one of the best opportunities in radio outside of LONDON.... they're really well positioned, and I just think that, run properly, they could quickly make a good return." BAUER, which recently purchased EMAP RADIO, is also expected to bid on the stations.
