The CHICAGO TRIBUNE's TEDDY GREENSTEIN reports that CBS Sports WSCR-A (670 THE SCORE)/CHICAGO and morning man MIKE NORTH are already talking over a new contract that would keep NORTH on the station beyond his JULY contract expiration.
NORTH told GREENSTEIN that those speculating that he will take a pay cut from his present $1.5 million yearly salary are wring, saying, "Are these the same dopes who thought I could never get $1.5 [million] a year -- and $700,000 a year before that? They don't know how I negotiate or the dynamics between me and the station. Here's what I know: I'm an earner, I make money for the company I work for. There are no complaints from their side." NORTH says that the offer presently on the table came after a session of bowling with cluster SVP ROD ZIMMERMAN.
