J.R. RUSS PROGRAMMING AND RESEARCH of PHILADELPHIA has announced the launching of a new format -- "Movie Ticket Radio" -- in conjunction with JEFF GOLDBERG of BALLYHOO! STUDIOS in EL PASO. "It’s the music from the movies -- on the radio," said GOLDBERG. "'Movie Ticket Radio' is the first hit-music radio format without an over-researched playlist. The ‘currents are music from the movies that are hot at the box office each week."
"Young adults are the primary movie consumers and 'Movie Ticket Radio' is designed to bring younger listeners back to radio," RUSS said. "The format can also be skewed to target an older demographic if that's what market conditions dictate. The format is also great for markets with three A/C or Country stations, for example. It’s a chance for the No. 3 station to finally offer listeners something different, yet, mass-appeal."
Additionally, select "flagship" stations will be offered special incentives that include a choice of a starter music library, ratings analysis, jingle imaging or custom sponsor-incentive packages. Station owners can hear a short demo and a sample hour of the format at http://www.movieticketradio.com .
