BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE's comments about the father of the nine-year-old girl in CITRUS COUNTY, FL -- who was raped and murdered in 2005 -- have drawn a protest. The man wants BUBBA to retract the remarks or face a lawsuit.
BUBBA, a strong supporter of law enforcement, jumped into the debate over MARK LUNSFORD's plans to sue the CITRUS COUNTY Sheriff's Office over the way it handled the case against the killer of his daughter JESSICA, with the host criticizing the father for delaying the launch of his "JESSICA MARIE LUNSFORD FOUNDATION," saying, "You have to wait for your daughter to die before you can start raping money from people -- I understand."
The ST. PETERSBURG TIMES reports that LUNSFORD, calling BUBBA a "fat slob," is threatening a slander suit against BUBBA and COX RADIO Classic Rock WHPT (102.5 THE BONE)/TAMPA.
BUBBA has apologized for the language used, but continues to be skeptical of LUNSFORD, producer BRENT HATLEY told the paper. BUBBA said, "The only thing I'm guilty of is sticking up for the people of CITRUS COUNTY, who will have to pay for this lawsuit. I'm the most pro-law enforcement radio person out there." He has hired investigators and a forensic accountant to look into LUNSFORD's formation of the foundation.
