The TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS have pulled all in-arena promotion for CORUS Talk CFMJ-A (AM640 TORONTO RADIO)/TORONTO afternoon host BILL WATTERS in response to what the team calls "personal attacks on us."
MAPLE LEAFS SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT SVP of Communications JOHN LASHWAY told the GLOBE AND MAIL that the team cleared AIR CANADA CENTRE of WATTERS posters and messages on the arena's electronic display panels because the criticism was "deeply personal." WATTERS, a former LEAFS Assistant GM, has ripped CEO RICHARD PEDDIE as a "stiff" and "Ph.D. -- Poppa Has Dough" as the team sinks further out of the playoff picture. AM640 PD GORD HARRIS told the paper "We support BILL 100%."
