WOR Looks For Another 'Shining Star'

BUCKLEY Talk WOR-A/NEW YORK's "Shining Star Talent Search 2008" is offering a grand prize of $10,000 to the school of the winning student. The singing contest is open to students in grades 7-12, with 25 semi-finalists entering a "sing-off" on JUNE 8 and the winner and first- and second-runner-up to perform live at WOR's "Get Healthy Expo" on JUNE 21.
"The "Shining Star Talent Search’ provides students with an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents and creativity," said NEW JERSEY Commissioner of Education LUCILLE E. DAVY. "As a student I was actively involved in the arts, and I encourage young people in grades 7-12 to take part in this competition."
"Children living in NEW YORK CITY grow up in a rich and diverse musical environment, and we have made great efforts to cultivate our students' musical gifts," said NEW YORK CITY Dept. of Education Senior Instructional Manager for Arts Education SHARON DUNN. "We are delighted that this program offers NEW YORK CITY schoolchildren an opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent."
