Former CLEAR CHANNEL AC WMGF (MAGIC 107.7)/ORLANDO APD/midday talent BRENDA MATTHEWS has landed a new job across town, but now finds herself battling a non-compete with her previous employer.
MATTHEWS worked at the cluster for 12 years, and spent close to nine years at MAGIC 107.7. After a downsizing near the end of 2007, she stayed on for part-time duties and was voice-tracking four stations when she resigned on FRIDAY (2/29). She had previously worked for PAXON BROADCASTING prior to CLEAR CHANNEL's take over of the properties.
MATTHEWS tells ALL ACCESS, "CLEAR CHANNEL has eliminated my full-time position. They don't want pay me a full time salary, but yet they're trying to prevent me from leaving and going elsewhere, and making a decent wage...This is my life..this is my career...I need to, and deserve to make a living and to work in my chosen field."
