Specter Tells Stern Merger Decision Probably Coming By End Of Month

Sen, ARLEN SPECTER (R-PA) told HOWARD STERN on the latter's SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO show that a decision on the XM-SIRIUS merger should be released by the end of the month. SPECTER, the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said that the decision has lagged because of a lack of "sense of urgency" about the deal in WASHINGTON and because of the complex issues regarding competition.
Promoting his new book "Never Give In: Battling Cancer in the Senate," SPECTER noted that there is no sense of urgency for anything in the government and that if there was, there might be a cure for cancer by now. The interview covered a wide range of topics, from the nation's economic woes and SPECTER's battle with cancer to the ELIOT SPITZER case and the need for an exit strategy in IRAQ.
