JASON RAE, the husband of British singer CORINNE BAILEY RAE, was found dead on SATURDAY (3/22) in LEEDS, CNN reports. After a post-mortem examination proved inconclusive, toxicology tests were taken; the results are forthcoming.
BAILEY RAE, a GRAMMY Song of the Year in both 2007 and 2008, was not at the flat when her husband was found. She has publicly taken an anti-drug stance; nevertheless, THE U.K. PRESS ASSOCIATION reported that WEST YORKSHIRE POLICE will open an inquest this week, after a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
JASON RAE, 31, was a saxophonist with funk group the HAGGIS HORNS, which has backed up AMY WINEHOUSE, MARK RONSON and BAILEY RAE herself.
EMI released the following statement: "EMI RECORDS would like to offer its sincere condolences to CORINNE BAILEY RAE and the RAE family at this tragic time ... We ask that the media respects CORINNE's privacy and that of her entire family."
