DON GERONIMO has retired from the DON AND MIKE show in a surprise early exit. GERONIMO (aka MIKE SORCE) had announced in FEBRUARY that he would leave the WESTWOOD ONE and CBS Talk WJFK/WASHINGTON show MAY 30th, but he has decided to leave over a month-and-a-half earlier than planned.
A statement from CBS RADIO/WASHINGTON SVP/GM MICHAEL HUGHES obtained by ALL ACCESS says that GERONIMO "has chosen to accelerate his retirement and step down from his current position as co-host of the DON AND MIKE program. Co-host MIKE O'MEARA will continue the show with familiar cast members, BUZZ BURBANK, ROBB SPEWAK, and JOE ARDINGER. Additionally, BETH ANN MCBRIDE is returning as Exec. Producer of the program and will have an on-air role. During the week beginning Monday, APRIL 7th, BUZZ and ROBB will host a series of retrospective clips, highlighting the programs immense success over the last 20 years. Meanwhile, DON will return on Friday, APRIL 11th to host a farewell show and thank his legions of listeners for their continued support over the years."
