MCCLATCHEY Sports WRBZ-A (850 THE BUZZ)/RALEIGH-DURHAM is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and the station is bringing back a voice from the early days with a special one-time appearance by NANCI DONNELLAN, "THE FABULOUS SPORTS BABE." DONNELLAN's old syndicated show aired on THE BUZZ from 1996, via ESPN RADIO, through 2001, when her syndicator SPORTS FAN RADIO NETWORK folded. DONNELLAN will appear APRIL 10th at 10a.
"As one of the first female sports radio call-in hosts in America, THE FABULOUS SPORTS BABE was a big part of our early success," said 850 THE BUZZ GM BRIAN MALONEY. "We are very excited that THE BABE will be broadcasting this very special show to help us celebrate 10 years as The TRIANGLE's Sports Leader."
DONNELLAN added, "I am thrilled about returning to 850 THE BUZZ on APRIL 10th and being a part of their 10-year anniversary celebration."
More Babe: Returns Full-Time In Tampa
On the following day, THE BABE returns to the air full-time in her hometown of TAMPA, joining GENESIS Sports WHBO-A (ESPN AM 1470) to co-host weekday afternoons with SCOT BRANTLEY. "BRANTLEY AND THE BABE" launches APRIL 11th 3-6p ET.
WHBO PD DRO SILVA said, "Adding THE BABE to BRANTLEY's show and our already great lineup cements WHBO ESPN AM 1470 as TAMPA BAY's leading sports station. Pairing these two superstar broadcasters and the best brand in sports, ESPN, allows us to superserve our listeners and advertising clients. Plus, with the response from the advertising community now that THE BABE has arrived, I’m not sure who’s more pumped -- the staff, the listeners or our advertisers. It’s going to be a great run!"
THE BABE added, "There isn’t a better huddle to get into than with WHBO AM 1470 and the ESPN brand where I’m re-launching my broadcast career full-time. I’m especially pleased that I already know so many people employed with GENESIS. I am and have always been a huge SCOT BRANTLEY fan! It’s like coming back home. Exciting times are ahead."
