Congrats to MCA/NASHVILLE SVP of National Promotion ROYCE RISSER, VP/Promo BRUCE SHINDLER, and the rest of the promo staff as history is made today.
“KING” GEORGE STRAIT has achieved his 56th No.1 Country song with, “I Saw God Today,” hitting the top-spot today (04/21). The song, which is from STRAIT’s new album, “Troubador,” gives him more #1’s than any other recording artist in any genre. Country great, the late CONWAY TWITTY held the record for many years with 55 #1’s.
ROYCE RISSER had this to say about today’s news: “This is something we have been talking about and working on since the early 90’s. That was when we realized if we kept the pace we had going, we could break the record. We have been digging through stats and publications for years now, and can’t find another artist that has as many # 1’s. Every one of these # 1’s had a story…a team behind it…and the support of Country Radio. This is truly amazing when you consider that this record may never, ever be broken. It has true historical significance. All HAIL THE KING.”
