Suspended Morning Team Back At KBFX
April 30, 2008 at 7:40 AM (PT)
Two ANCHORAGE jocks who were suspended over an offensive remark about ALASKA Native women returned to the airwaves TODAY (4/30), reports KTUU-TV. GREG WOOD and CHRIS WILCOX -- known as WOODY and WILCOX -- were taken off the air at CLEAR CHANNEL Classic Rock KBFX on APRIL 15th after public outrage.
The two were joking APRIL 9th about what makes someone a real ALASKAN, when one of them switched the verbs on an old saying that real ALASKANS have urinated in the YUKON RIVER and made love to an ALASKA Native woman. The original saying also is offensive to many.
ALASKA Natives and others have since canceled advertising with KBFX. Market Manager GARY DONOVAN announced the return of the four-hour WOODY and WILCOX show, and posted a letter on the station website. Read it here.
