Slaten Sues KFNS Over Firing

Former BIG LEAGUE BROADCASTING Sports KFNS-A-F/ST. LOUIS host KEVIN SLATEN is suing the station for wrongful termination and may seek over $300,000 in damages. SLATEN was fired APRIL 4 after an incident on MARCH 27 in which he put a call with ST. LOUIS CARDINALS pitching coach DAVE DUNCAN on the air without informing DUNCAN that the call would be broadcast. SLATEN says that he was broadcasting from a remote location that day and did not know that his producer had not informed DUNCAN that the call would be on the air.
His suit, filed THURSDAY in ST. LOUIS COUNTY Circuit Court, calls the reason for the firing "pretextual" and claims that he was fired because of his large salary and because the CARDINALS denied the station access to their players and employees.
