An article in SATURDAY's WALL STREET JOURNAL details the behind-the-scenes drama of ADAM CAROLLA's alleged "sick-out" late last year to protest the addition of DANNY BONADUCE to his CBS RADIO and Talk KLSX/LOS ANGELES morning show.
The article by SARAH MCBRIDE quotes CAROLLA as saying, "I just decided the show wasn't right" and that if he would be fired for his actions, "so be it." CAROLLA told MCBRIDE that when he joined KLSX, his bosses told him, "No pressure, we're sticking with you, no one expects you to be the next HOWARD STERN, this is a marathon, not a sprint. And then four months later, it was like, 'Holy s-, this is a disaster.'"
...four months later, it was like, 'Holy s-, this is a disaster.
PD JACK SILVER said he considered firing CAROLLA for the sickout, which followed encouraging initial ratings for the pairing, and giving BONADUCE the show solo, but decided that there was too much invested in CAROLLA to pull the plug. CAROLLA retained the morning show and BONADUCE was moved to an hour in late afternoons.
