The MONTEREY COUNTY Board of Supervisors today overwhelming approved the MONTEREY MUSIC SUMMIT's plans to stage a three-day music and art festival at the end MAY despite concerns that performer SNOOP DOGG may attract a dangerous audience. The festival was in danger of having its permit revoked because some parties believe SNOOP's music would incite gang conflicts at the event. Festival promoters are working with anti-gang organizations to alleviate those concerns..
"I am very happy that the Board felt the same as I do, that you cannot censor music," event promoter JOE FLETCHER said. "I was confident that we would prevail over this controversy. We are moving full speed ahead to continue building a safe and positive festival.
THE MONTEREY MUSIC SUMMIT is being held MAY 30th through JUNE 1st at LAGUNA SECA RECREATION AREA in MONTEREY, CA. Over 30 performances will take place on two stages throughout the weekend,
