Soon-to-be-free-agent rapper CURTIS "50 CENT" JACKSON could be the next major hip-hop star to score a big-bucks deal involving records, tours and other rights, writes TODAY's NEW YORK POST. Hoping to follow on the heels of JAY-Z's $150 million pact with LIVE NATION, insiders close to the rapper's camp said that unnamed parties are already extending early feelers about his services.
"FITTY" currently owes two more records to UMG's INTERSCOPE RECORDS, and wants to get them both out before the end of the year so that he can focus on new contract offers from all comers, sources familiar with the situation said.
Meanwhile, the guessing game as to where he'll land next is in full swing, with speculation late last week centering on a possible blockbuster deal with MYSPACE.
Besides CDs, the rapper is also collecting money from a variety of other sources -- a key factor that helped LIVE NATION justify its JAY-Z deal. 50 CENT's portfolio includes an investment in VITAMINWATER, valued at $100 million, his own record label, a branded clothing line, sneakers through REEBOK, fitness videos, books, video games, HOLLYWOOD movies and most recently, a line of memorabilia through a deal with STEINER SPORTS. FORBES MAGAZINE estimates he collected $33 million from his various business ventures for the year ended JUNE 2007.
