The CONSUMER COALITION FOR COMPETITION IN SATELLITE RADIO, the anti-satellite-merger group formed by a group of law students at GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY in WASHINGTON, DC, is demanding that the FCC designate the merger for a hearing and investigate the parties after SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO filed new information on APRIL 10 that was substantially redacted to comply with FCC protective orders.
C3SR, filing a response that itself is substantially redacted in the version available tot he public, says that the documents filed by SIRIUS "cast the proposed merger in a very negative light and call into question the truthfulness and candor of both SIRIUS and XM with respect to their dealings with the Commission as licensees and during this proceeding." The C3SR objections relate to the companies' failure to comply with their obligations to develop an interoperable receiver.
