BBC RADIO 5 LIVE ups 5 LIVE SPORT Editor JONATHAN WALL to Commissioning Editor, effective later this SUMMER. WALL's newly-defined position replaces the positions of Managing Editor, previously occupied by MOZ DEE (now at UTV sports TALKSPORT), and Acting Managing and Commissioning Editor, held until now by MICHAEL HILL (joining CHANNEL 4 RADIO). WALL joined the BBC in 1994 as a producer at BBC RADIO HUMBERSIDE.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for me and a real privilege to play an even bigger part in 5 LIVE's development.," said WALL. "We have a strong radio station which is performing well, but my job is to help make it even stronger over the next three years to prepare for the move up to SALFORD. It is an important radio station in the lives of millions of people across the UK. I want to make it even more important to them, and to attract new listeners who we haven't reached yet."
Controller ADRIAN CAN KLAVEREN added, "JONATHAN already has an outstanding track record as a 5 LIVE editor, producing innovative programmes and helping the station's overall development. He will now have a key role alongside me in shaping 5 LIVE's future and I very much look forward to him bringing his creativity and commitment to 5 LIVE's senior management team."
