Laryngitis Doesn't Stop Stanley Cup Call

FSN's KEN DANIELS was pressed into service on CBS Talk-Sports WXYT/DETROIT for WEDNESDAY night's Game 6 of the STANLEY CUP finals when radio play-by-play man KEN KAL was diagnosed with laryngitis-like symptoms, writes THE DETROIT FREE PRESS.
"Obviously, I'm disappointed," said KAL, who said he didn't think his illness was related to calling MONDAY's triple-overtime game. "But on the other hand, if the WINGS win the Cup and DANIELS gets an opportunity to call it, I'll be happy for him because he's never done it before."
Well, the WINGS won the Cup, but DANIELS didn't do the call.
In the last few seconds, he graciously handed the microphone to KAL -- who argued about it, but took the mike. DANIELS hadn't told KAL he was going to do it, he just figured it was the right thing.
