UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA radio color commentator and former star ALABAMA and OAKLAND RAIDERS quarterback KENNY STABLER was arrested early SUNDAY morning and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. STABLER was pulled over in ROBERTSDALE, AL and taken into custody, and was released after posting $1,000 bond. The arrest was STABLER's third DUI incident, with the others occurring in 1995 and 2001. STABLER serves as color analyst alongside ELI GOLD for CRIMSON TIDE football, produced by LEARFIELD SPORTS; he brefly co-hosted afternoons at CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WERC-A/BIRMINGHAM.
LEARFIELD SVP STEVE GOWAN issued a statement that read, "Our thoughts are with KENNY and his family at this time. In circumstances of this nature, our primary concern is for KENNY's well-being. We are in the early stages of the fact gathering regarding this situation and this is not the appropriate time to offer any further comment."
ALABAMA Athletic Dir. MAL MOORE said, "KENNY has always been supportive of ALABAMA athletics, and it’s in times like these that his friends need to be supportive of him. It’s my understanding that this situation is in its early stages and a lot of the information is still being gathered. With that in mind, I think it would be disrespectful and irresponsible to comment any further."
