Tumult At The Tower: Lee Trink Exits
June 10, 2008 at 11:39 AM (PT)
ALL ACCESS has confirmed that CAPITOL RECORDS Pres. LEE TRINK has told his staff that he is resigning and will leave the Tower on JUNE 30th.
News reports are also speculating that VIRGIN RECORDS CEO JASON FLOM may follow suit in the coming days, but don't be surpised if something is worked out to keep him in the company.
According to FOX NEWS, the departures are part of EMI's continued downsizing under GUY HANDS. If both departures are confirmed, FOX reports that neither will be replaced as part of further consolidation. Instead of label Presidents, NICK GATFIELD will come in to serve as "President of A&R labels for NORTH AMERICA and the U.K." In the end, all of EMI's individual labels will only have "A&R presidents" and heads of marketing. Read the FOX report here.
And, according to an EMI memo: BLUE NOTE LABEL GROUP's MANHATTAN RECORDS GM IAN RALFINI will work with existing senior management and marketing staff to manage our marketing function in the interim. IAN will report to EMI Music Global Marketing President SAM VAN DER FELTZ.
A search for the head of the EMI MUSIC NORTH AMERICA marketing function is underway and an announcement is pending.
More details as we get them.
