Country artist MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY was awarded the "Cowboy Keeper Award" by the NATIONAL DAY OF THE COWBOY organization on MAY 25th. The award is given to "those individuals or organizations who make a substantial contribution to the preservation of Western heritage."
MICHAEL was surprised with the award as he finished his LONE COWBOY concert for guests at JOHN WAYNE's 101st BIRTHDAY BASH in WINTERSET, IOWA. In addition to this award, MURPHEY has also been inducted into the WESTERN MUSIC HALL OF FAME, the NEBRASKA MUSIC HALL OF FAME and the COLORADO COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME. Last year he also received a LETTER OF COMMENDATION from PRESIDENT BUSH for his involvement in JOHN WAYNE's 100th birthday celebration.
