JOURNAL BROADCAST GROUP EVP/Television and Radio Ops./VP-Digital Media CARL GARDNER exits after 17 years to join BONNEVILLE as VP/Market Manager for its SEATTLE cluster, effective JULY 7. GARDNER will oversee Talk KIRO-A, Talk KTTH-A (THE TRUTH), and Classic Hits KBSG.
BONNEVILLE PRes./CEO BRUCE REESE said, "I'm thrilled to have a broadcast professional of CARL's stature and vision join the BONNEVILLE team in SEATTLE. His experience in the news-talk and sports arenas, along with his New Media expertise, makes him the perfect fit for our product platforms and New Media initiatives at our SEATTLE properties."
"Local broadcasting is absolutely the place to be right now," said GARDNER. "Stations with vision and purpose will thrive, and BONNEVILLE both understands and supports that mission. The teams at KIRO, KTTH and KBSG already are strong, and I'm thrilled to be joining them. Doing great local radio in my home town of SEATTLE is a dream come true. This is a wonderful chance to get back to something I dearly love – being immersed in the day-to-day operation of broadcast stations.
"Nothing," he added, "can match the energy, the fun, the highs and the lows, and the significance of doing great local radio or TV. I’ve missed that, and now I’m going back. BONNEVILLE is a terrific company, one I admire and am excited to join. It is deeply committed to many of the same values that make JOURNAL what it is. In that way, it will be a natural transition for me."
