Brett Favre Brings Rivals Together

While BRETT FAVRE's return to GREEN BAY PACKERS' training camp may be ruffling the feathers of team management, it has brought two unlikely stations together. CITADEL BROADCASTING Sports KBGG (AM 1700 THE CHAMP) and SAGA COMMUNICATIONS Religious KPSZ-A (PRAISE 940 AM)/DES MOINES have agreed to an unprecendented play-by-play and cross-promotion deal for the GREEN BAY PACKERS' upcoming 2008-'09 season. While specific terms of the deal were not publicized, AM 940 PRAISE will receive PACKER game promotion on THE CHAMP, while THE CHAMP will receive in-game radio commercials for each of the upcoming PACKERS games this season.
"Since I'm a huge PACKER fan and an even bigger BRETT FAVRE fan, I called BILL WELLS at SAGA COMMUNICATIONS shortly after BRETT landed in GREEN BAY to report to practice," CITADEL-IOWA VP TERRY PETERS said. "This will be a win-win deal for both of us. AM 1700 THE CHAMP will promote GREEN BAY PACKER game broadcasts on PRAISE 940 AM, and SAGA COMMUNICATIONS will run in-game commercials for THE CHAMP during the PACKERS play-by-play broadcasts on KPSZ."
"With BRETT FAVRE’s return to the PACKERS, the value of our PACKERS broadcasts went through the roof," added SAGA COMMUNICATIONS GM BILL WELLS. "We'll be able to get an even bigger footprint of promotional support with AM 1700 THE CHAMP’s nearly statewide signal. This is one time when a cross-marketing deal like this can work -- plus, I love taking my competitor’s money!"
