A new J.D. POWER AND ASSOCIATES Multimedia Quality and Satisfaction study found that a stronger consumer demand for high-tech features in new vehicles led to a significant increase in market penetration for satellite radio and navigation systems. The study found that 55% of new-vehicle owners report having satellite radio capability in their audio system, up considerably from 39% in 2007. Market penetration for navigation systems also increased from 20% in 2007 to 25% in 2008.
"New-vehicle buyers are looking for the latest technologies in audio systems, and the presence of features such as satellite radio and navigation systems will only increase as manufacturers try to meet consumer demand," J.D. POWER Sr. Research Manager/Automotive Product Quality ALLISON LADUC noted.
