AL RANTEL will be off the air again at CITADEL Talk KABC-A/LOS ANGELES, this time for a couple of weeks to recover from a fractured hip and shoulder sustained in a fall at his home FRIDAY. The 11a-noon and 7-10p host issued a statement WEDNESDAY saying, "As all of you who listen to my show on KABC are aware, this has been a rough year for me on so many levels. I have spent my recent months focused on overcoming lymphoma and was proud to share with you that this spring, I was fortunate enough to undergo chemotherapy – treatment that made the difference in tackling the lymphoma and restoring my health.
"During this difficult and challenging time in my life, I also shared with you one of the greatest losses of my life—my mother’s passing. I have received incredible support from you and I can never express how much your messages and well wishes meant to me and how much they helped me heal.
"Although the chemotherapy was literally a life saver and the cancer is successfully in remission, this past Friday, I slipped and fell and sustained a fracture to my hip and shoulder. I am working through this situation with the support of my doctors at CEDARS SINAI.
"I will never forget the great joy of returning to be with you on the air this summer. After a few weeks of recovery, I can’t wait to get back into the thick of the election and other issues with you again. FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE once said 'That which does not kill you only makes you stronger.' I am getting really strong!
"Continued thanks for all your support."
