MANCHESTER UNITED game broadcasts are moving from GCAP MEDIA Alternative XFM/MANCHESTER to crosstown BAUER MEDIA Top 40 KEY 103 under a three year deal. KEY 103 is becoming what the soccer club calls its "official commentary partner" and will carry all weekend games, while sister Oldies MAGIC 1152 picks up weekday games. MICKEY THOMAS will call the action this season. KEY 103 continues as the radio home for UNITED crosstown rival MANCHESTER CITY's games with ANDY HINCHLIFFE providing the commentary.
KEY 103 PD GARY STEIN said, "KEY 103 is proud to be MANCHESTER's local radio station. We are delighted to add MANCHESTER UNITED to our line-up after working with MANCHESTER CITY for the past five years. Working with both clubs gives us balance and the opportunity to connect with football fans from both sides of fence, making our weekend line-up unmissable."
UNITED CEO DAVID GILL added, "We’re delighted to be teaming up with KEY 103. The station has been an important part of the lives of many of our fans for many years. We're looking forward to working with KEY to bring supporters unrivaled radio coverage of the club as we begin the campaign to defend our English and European crowns."
